This cool Japanese property dubbed Green Edge was named, fairly literally, for a garden row that adds a all-natural element to this urban home strategy. Japanese architecture firm mA-style Architects had a couple of major ambitions for this residence situated in Fujieda – incorporating light and air, even though preserving privacy. With the dense city surrounding it, the house takes shape as a floating strong facade surrounding glass walls and an interior courtyard, meeting each its objectives of nature and seclusion. The easy exterior tends to make way for minimalist interiors that are as cool as they are calm. Check it out.
We enjoy the sheer minimalist of this residence style, from its straightforward rectangular shape, to its clean white palette and total lack of details – or so it appears!
The home’;s exterior is a massive, solid mass separating it from the street and neighbors. The white wall doesn’;t very reach all the way down to the ground, leaving a strip of glass that exposes the private interiors to the outside planet. Without compromising privacy, this open band of glass also floods interiors with all-natural light.
Among this unyielding exterior and the glass wall enclosing interiors, a rock garden encircles the home, offering the “green edge” for which this property is named.
This little private garden is not your typical “interior courtyard” in the sense that whilst it is technically inside the home, it literally encircles it.
Behind the white shell, floor-to-ceiling glass walls nevertheless handle to offer interiors an alfresco really feel.
Inside, the mixture of glass, greenery and white supply a totally serene setting – an uncommon locate in a busy city.
Minimalist interiors echo the exterior’;s basic type, from its clean white palette to the simplicity in its particulars, and the earthy top quality at ground-level (i.e. the natural wood floor).
The kitchen is tiny and effective, offering all the essentials simply at hand – and out of sight when not in use. A location for everything, and every little thing in its spot…
And regardless of exactly where you appear, you usually have a view of the garden – your personal private piece of nature at every turn.
Simply because the home is wrapped in nature, the views are ever-changing, and often enticing.
The bathroom sits outside the principal living locations, to residents and guests have to venture by means of the garden to make use.
In the correct light – or lack thereof – the residence seems to disappear against the night sky, leaving only a glowing stretch of light along the ground.
Here’;s how the house comes collectively.
A bird’;s eye view.
